In March 2020, at the beginning of the COVID-19 lockdowns, Narika witnessed a severe increase in domestic violence survivors, those fleeing abuse, who were struggling with food insecurity along with the housing and legal needs that Narika was already supporting.

In response to this, Narika launched our Fremont Food Justice Program, distributing groceries and essentials to survivors and families in need. Narika provides basic needs for low-income survivors, like cleaning supplies, baby wipes, hot meals, pantry staples and fresh produce so they can focus on finding employment and housing and therefore safety and empowerment.

Thanks to the generosity of local donors and NGOs, Narika was able to provide over 4420 lbs of food, serving over 500 community members, since March 2020.

To help us streamline this process and support even more survivors, our volunteer, Anindya, reached out and built us our very own Food Justice App so that anyone can help a survivor in need from the ease of their phone.

Click the button below or scan our QR code above to join this movement.

Your generous donation directly sponsors a family’s weekly needs. Our bi-monthly programs serve around 300-400 people every event with supplies to last our families for a month. If you have questions, you can reach us at narika@narika.org.

Since this is a new app, if donors have feedback on what improvements can be made, they can send it to narika@narika.org

You people are very humble and nice, always smiling and cooperative, gives us confidence to speak evenly if cannot speak English properly.
