Keerthana Kalaivanan’s Fundraiser for Narika
Art has the power to bring people together, inspire change, and uplift women and survivors facing incredibly difficult circumstances.
Welcome to Narika’s fundraising page. Our goal is to raise at least $5,000 to support survivors of domestic violence served by Narika.
Narika is a grassroots nonprofit based in Fremont that has been supporting survivors of domestic violence in the Bay Area since 1992. What began as an informal, family‑like network created by a South Asian immigrant woman who recognized the urgent need for culturally responsive support has grown into a trusted organization serving hundreds of women each year.
At its heart, Narika is about community showing up for community. For more than three decades, Narika’s work has been rooted in listening, responding, and being there for survivors when they need it most. In 2025 alone, Narika supported over 970 survivors, providing emergency shelter, transportation, food, safety planning, support groups, therapy, financial empowerment, legal resources, transitional housing, and more.
Narika also understands the importance of prevention. Through education, outreach, and its SAPHAL parenting modules, the organization works to break cycles of violence and strengthen families across generations.
About Keerthana Kalaivanan
Keerthana Kalaivanan is a sophomore at Piedmont Hills High School with a strong passion for philanthropy and community impact.
She has been learning Bharatanatyam, an ancient Indian classical dance form, for more than seven years. This art has become a deep passion, and she is now reaching a major milestone: Arangetram, the culmination of years of dedication, discipline, and love for dance.
In Bharatanatyam, precise eye movements, expressive facial gestures, intricate hand mudras, and rhythmic footwork come together to bring layered storytelling to life through complex emotions and expressions. Keerthana has been fortunate to learn under the guidance of Guru Smt. Rani Sunil, an accomplished dancer, choreographer, and founder of the School of Indian Dance.
