Narika Announces First Transitional Home for Domestic Violence Survivors

Narika is thrilled to announce the opening of our first Transitional Home in Alameda County, CA. Narika’s Transitional Home will provide a culturally responsive, trauma-informed housing program for survivors of domestic violence and their children and a crucial space to rebuild their lives with courage and resilience. With the support of Narika’s wraparound, holistic case management services, survivors staying at our transitional home will enroll in an individualized program designed to strengthen their healing and self sufficiency including food, mental health resources and therapy, job training and economic resources, as well as support in obtaining and sustaining their own long-term housing.

Narika is deeply grateful to all the donors and supporters who have made our first Transitional Home a reality.

Our heartfelt gratitude to our amazing Founding Donors: Indians for Collective Action (ICA), Krishnan-Shah Family Foundation and Stephen D Huahn Memorial Fund Donor Advised Fund of the Asian Pacific Fund. Their generous gifts have made our Transitional Home, along with its comprehensive client support programs, possible. Special thanks to all the Alameda County, city, and county staff and officials for their guidance and support, especially Mayor Melissa Hernandez and Supervisor David Haubert. Profound thanks as well to Narika supporters Archana Chhaya, Dr.Veena Puri, Faiza J Ghafoor, Moina Shaiq, Neelika Chaudhary, Ranjit Chakravorti, Ruhi Alikhan, Saha Jamshed, Shauli Chaudhuri, Siema Zia, Swati Banerjee and Taskeen Fatehdin as well as to Chugh LLP - Attorneys and CPAs, Realty ONE Group Future, The ArtisTree Real Estate and The Bay Brokerage Inc. And last but far from the least, a very warm shout out to our sister organizations NISA (North American Islamic Shelter for the Abused) and Maitri for their wisdom and collaboration.

Narika is grateful to be in service to our community and stays committed to creating a violence-free future for all.
