Narika is a nonprofit organization in the East Bay Area, CA that provides culturally responsive support and services to domestic violence survivors, especially those of South Asian descent. Embracing the notion of survivor empowerment, the organization's dedicated staff and volunteers work with a variety of community partners and offer a continuum of services and resources ranging from domestic violence advocacy, legal referrals, crisis counseling, safety planning, case management, education to economic empowerment and financial literacy.

Open Positions
HEAL Advocate
$26/Hr-$28/Hr
40 Hrs/Week
Full Time, Non Exempt Position
Location: Fremont, CA
Job Summary: Work closely with the Program Manager to manage and grow Narika’s HEAL program
Essential Functions:
Design, host, recruit and facilitate Narika’s support groups, healing groups, psychoeducational and wellness groups
Develop meaningful collaborations with culturally responsive healing providers and therapists
Help integrate healing practices into Narika’s case management, intervention and prevention services
Work closely with local health providers to enhance and expand the HEAL program
Conduct evaluations on the program’s impact and gather feedback for improvement
Participate in the development, modification and evaluation of client service plans with the direct service team.
Encourage cross referrals and communication across Narika direct service programs
Support Narika’s Helpline and provide peer counseling, resources and safety planning (20% or less of advocate’s time).
Maintain client case records, documentation and relevant records and statistics and provide weekly, monthly and yearly reports to the Program Manager
Assist in filing grant reports and applying for new grants.
Attend weekly staff meetings and participate in Narika events.
Any other responsibility prescribed by the Program Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Minimum 1 year of demonstrated work experience in group facilitation, domestic violence advocacy, peer counseling, community building, healing practices, community wellness programs OR a bachelor’s degree in related fields such as social work, psychology, mental health counseling
Keen interest in learning and sharing culturally responsive healing practices and community building
Completed California state mandated 40 hour domestic violence advocate training or be willing to complete it within three months of joining.
Bilingual ability, especially Hindi or Punjabi
Familiarity with South Asian culture and community
Knowledge of the issues involved in intimate partner violence.
Ability to work with diverse people and communities with awareness of socio-economic and cultural barriers.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Drive.
Ability to be flexible and adapt to dynamic situations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Eligible to work in the U.S.
Possess valid California driver's license with insurance
Ability and willingness to commute to office location and occasional off site groups

Community Outreach, Volunteer & Donor Engagement Specialist
$25/Hr
40 Hrs/Week
Full Time, Non-Exempt Position
Location: Fremont, CA
Job Summary: Community outreach and engagement is at the heart of Narika’s advocacy and critical to breaking and preventing cycles of violence. If you are a creative individual who likes to build community, engage with volunteers and donors, raise meaningful conversations and mobilize resources for a critical cause, then this may just be the position for you! This position will work closely with the Executive Director to create and maintain a rich network of relationships for Narika and create circles of care for survivors.
Essential Functions:
(80% Community outreach and events, community education, social media management, volunteer management; 20% Fundraising and Donor Management)
Design, host and attend community outreach and events for Narika (in person and online)
Grow and maintain meaningful collaborations and partnerships for Narika
Manage and coordinate Narika’s social media content
Support and host Narika’s community-based fundraising events, including Annual Gala
Help maintain Narika’s website
Establish, grow and maintain Narika’s donor management system
Regularly maintain documentation required for donor management, including donation records, donor acknowledgment and gratitude notes
Design, maintain and grow Narika’s volunteer recruitment and management program
Serve as main point of contact for partners, donors and volunteers for Narika
Attend weekly staff meetings and participate in all Narika events
Track and provide any documentation required for grant reports
Any other responsibility prescribed by the Executive Director
Reports directly to the Executive Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Undergraduate degree or 1 year of demonstrated work experience in related fields such as community education and organizing, donor management, volunteer coordination, event coordination or marketing
Completed California state mandated 40 hour domestic violence advocate training or be willing to complete it within six months of joining
Familiarity and experience with South Asian culture and community
Experience with social media communication and marketing
Ability to travel to locations in Alameda, Contra Costa and Santa Clara County
Ability to attend in-person events
Ability to stand for long hours at outreach events
Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs of weight
Ability to work with diverse people and communities with awareness of socio-economic and cultural barriers
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent writing skills.

Location: Fremont, CA
Job Summary: Work closely with the Program Manager to manage and grow Narika’s legal and healthcare support, referrals and resources
Essential Functions:
Manage legal and medical consults, resources and referrals for Narika clients
Support clients with legal applications and paperwork, including restraining orders
Develop meaningful collaborations with local legal and healthcare resources
Offer culturally responsive trainings and outreach presentations to local legal, law enforcement and healthcare collaborators
Design, manage, recruit for and host Narika’s Know Your Rights Clinics
Support Narika’s Helpline and provide peer counseling, resources and safety planning (20% or less of advocate’s time)
Provide limited court accompaniment
Provide logistical support, recruitment and coordination for CPS client groups
Conduct evaluations on program’s impact and gather feedback for improvement
