EXEMPT POSITION

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for Narika’s personnel, programs, development, and execution of its mission. The ED oversees the programmatic aspects of all direct client services, including outreach, the Helpline, support groups, case management, and the SEED program. Manages the planning, development, implementation, delivery, and evaluation/improvement of quality services that are integrated with community standards of practice, meet regulatory requirements and aligned with organizational goals/objectives. The ED is the principal agent that maintains fiscal responsibility and leads revenue generating activities for Narika.

Essential Functions:

Leadership, Program Operations, & Organization Development

  • Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and operations; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals
  • Develops strategic plan for growth and expansion of program operations
  • Expand and direct fundraising activities to support existing program operations and regional expansion;
  • Actively pursues funding opportunities; including Grant writing, applications, preparation, compliance, and reporting, with special emphasis on seeking out new grant sources.
  • Actively engage and energize Narika team members, board members, event committees, alumni, partnering organizations, and funders
  • Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; seek and build board involvement with strategic direction
    • Develops the program budget and monitors contract budgets to ensure contract compliance
    • Manage the daily operations and delivery of client services for the helpline, outreach, support groups, case management, and SEED programs
    • Responsible for detailed planning and tracking of staff schedules and budget, ensuring timely execution of invoices and reimbursements

Human Resource Management

  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain Narika’s management team. Ensures and provides ongoing professional development for Narika staff and volunteers
  • Determines the appropriate staff mix for client service programs and develops processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all program staff
  • Provides strategic direction to recruit, manage, train and deploy volunteers to execute Narika’s outreach programs, including fundraising opportunities.
  • Manages and resolves human resource, employee and program safety, and risk management issues
  • Actively works with Narika staff to develop SEED and support group curriculum training and case management services for clients

Quality Assurance

  • Develops and implements/monitors departmental policies and procedures which support the organization’s goals/business objectives and ensures they are met
  • Regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the board, funders, and other constituents.
  • Ensures the implementation of processes to improve finances, cost effective operations, and client outcomes across the Narika continuum of services

Collaboration & Community Partnerships

  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand
  • Designs and leads meaningful and effective community outreach to raise awareness of Narika’s mission, vision, and services
  • Collaborates with community partners to establish, implement, and maintain quality service standards to meet clients’ needs and expectations and to maintain a strong donor /funding source.
  • Attends conferences and events to aid in the development and growth of Narika programs and resources.
  • Attends weekly staff meetings and participates in Narika events
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum three year experience in program development and management; progressive leadership growth required
  • 40 hour DV trained candidates required; this training must be completed within one year of being hired as Executive Director
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in strategizing and coalition building
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office and Excel is required
  • Familiarity with South Asian culture and community is required
  • Ability to uphold the mission, vision and ethical standards of Narika
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Demonstrate a strong desire to exceed goals and commitments
  • Attention to detail as well as ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness and ability to work with people of diverse ethnicity, socio-economic circumstance, religion, culture and sexual orientation.
  • High-level organization and prioritization skills and ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
  • Must be able to meet multiple deadlines
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and change
  • Must possess valid California driver’s license and evidence of insurability

Preferred:

  • Experience volunteering or working in a related field strongly preferred
  • Experience in case management is preferred
  • Bilingual/bicultural experience preferred

WORK HOURS: EXEMPT full time position
